The APPtitude Prelaw Certificate Program is designed to support prelaw students by providing information and resources related to academic, personal, and professional development. Divided into three tracks (Academic, Personal, and Professional), the APPtitude program will cover topics on critical thinking and reading, the American legal system, time management, wellness and mindfulness, professionalism, networking, and more. By providing helpful information, tools, and resources in these three core tracks, the program aims to support student success during undergraduate studies and assist undergraduate students in developing skills in areas essential for future success in law school.
Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
Eligibility
Eligibility Requirements for the Spring 2025 Cohort: current UIUC student with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026, May 2027, August 2027, or December 2027.
How to Apply
The APPtitude application process consists of filling out a short application, including a resume. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.

FAQs
When will the program take place?
The APPtitude Certificate Program will take place during the Spring 2025 semester. Sessions will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm (or as specially scheduled) from January 22 to March 12, 2025. The sessions will be a combination of in-person and virtual.
Will I earn credit through the Certificate Program?
No, students do not earn academic credit for completing the APPtitude program.
What are the benefits of the program?
Students will build community, resources, and skills in three areas: academic, personal, and professional development. Specifically, students will work on their critical thinking and reading skills, with an eye toward understanding their importance to the successful study of law. Students will build their time-management and wellness skills, further preparing them for their academic and professional journeys.
How much time will be required?
Students will be required to meet for about an hour to an hour and a half session each week throughout the duration of the Program. In addition, participants will be required to complete brief assignments related to each session. Some limited special sessions or events scheduled outside the regular weekly session may also occur. Students can expect the commitment to be between 1-2 hours per week, with an approximate total time commitment of 12-16 hours for the semester.
